Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Heritage Month Resources

Resources

Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Desi American, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, observed in May each year, is a time dedicated to celebrating and honoring the diverse cultures, traditions, histories, and contributions of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, Desi Americans (those with roots in the Indian subcontinent), and Pacific Islanders in the United States. The month-long observance provides an opportunity for reflection, education, and appreciation of the achievements and experiences of these communities. It also serves as a platform to raise awareness about the challenges and issues they may face, as well as to promote inclusivity, understanding, and solidarity among all Americans. Throughout May, various events, activities, and initiatives are organized across the country to commemorate and recognize the significant impact and enduring legacy of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, Desi Americans, and Pacific Islanders on American society, culture, and history.

This is a collection of resources that can be used to deepen our understanding and appreciation of the history and culture of this heritage and identity centric month.
