Every year, departments from around campus host signature events, promoting a culture of inclusive belonging. This is just a short list of the many ways the we can all engage with the communities here at UCCS. Events are open to students, families, and UCCS community members. "You Belong" Project
September
You belong. You matter. We’re happy you’re here. This annual event focuses on celebrating and uplifting diversity with the UCCS community is hosted by MOSAIC & LGBTQ+ Resource Center & the UCCS Wellness Center.
International Family Weekend
October
This virtual experience will allow UCCS International Students to share the UCCS campus with the family aboard and engage in activities. Hosted by the Office of International Affairs.
Indigenous Peoples' Day
October
Celebrated before Native American Heritage Month in November, Indigenous Peoples Day comes on the second Monday of October and is formerly known as Columbus Day. It's a day to commemorate the cultures of Native American Tribes.
Veteran Student Week
November
UCCS honors its student veterans throughout the week of Nov. 6th with multiple events, culminating at the Veterans Day Event on November 11th. Student veterans can celebrate and connect with other veterans at events organized by the Veteran & Military Affairs office. Veterans will have the opportunity to network, converse and win prizes while being recognized for their service.
First Generation Student Week
November
First-Generation College Celebration (FGCC) is an annual opportunity to raise awareness of the first-generation college student identity by advancing an asset-based, national narrative of these students’ experiences and outcomes. This week of programming is sponsored by the department of Student & Family Connections.
Mountain Lion Research day
December
Mountain Lion Research Day hosted by the UCCS Office of Research focused on highlighting the work of student researchers and their faculty mentors.
International Holocaust Remembrance Day
January
Walk by the West Lawn to view a field of flags to remember the lives lost and honor the many victims of the Holocaust. The flags displayed represent different groups that were killed in the Holocaust. This is a passive event but there will be information available online for those who would like to learn more.
MLK Days of Service & Action
January
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr (MLK) Days of Service and Action is an opportunity for everyone to invest in the health and harmony of our communities. Join the community for a variety of sessions and volunteer opportunities!
Significant Speaker
April
A long held tradition, UCCS hosts a speaker during spring term that draws crowds from all over. Every year a new topic is discussed, ranging from sciences, athletics, to social justice and mental health and wellbeing.
